I.Training objectives

This major cultivates students with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical education, art and labor, with good foundation, high quality, strong ability, ocean consciousness, innovative spirit, domestic feelings and international vision, familiar with China's national conditions, and able to participate in international cooperation; students will have insight into the current and future development trend of ship and ocean engineering, and master the design and manufacturing,scientific and technological development and application of ship and ocean engineering structure; they will have solid and comprehensive professional knowledge in research and computer application technology, and will be international and application-oriented compound talents in the field of ship and ocean engineering. After about five years of work practice, graduates can achieve the following goals:

1. Able to comprehensively use natural science, engineering technology, and basic theories and knowledge of marine and marine engineering to provide systematic solutions to complex problems in marine and marine engineering or related engineering fields.

2. Able to keep up with cutting-edge technologies in shipbuilding and ocean engineering and related fields, possess a certain degree of innovation, and be able to use modern tools to design. develop and manufacture ships or ocean equipment.

3. Possess strong innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, broad international vision, high English proficiency, familiar with international rules, able to conduct cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation and participate in international competition.

4. Have the ability to develop, design and manufacture new products with commercial value in the international shipbuilding and ocean engineering industry, as well as the ability to improve

and solve various technical problems.

5.Have the ability to continue learning and be able to adapt to the needs of the industry and the sustainable development of society and economy.

II. Training measures

1. Introduce foreign high-quality educational resources, advanced education and teaching concepts and curriculum training systems.

2. Diversified teaching methods. Classroom teaching values the cultivation of innovation

ability and practical skills, adopts project teaching, seminar and problem discussion and other teaching methods that are closely integrated with practice, and focuses on improving students analytical ability and problem-solving ability

3. All imported courses are taught in English by NUOS teachers. Core courses of the major are equipped with JOU teaching assistants(bilingual teaching and Q&A) who are all full-time teachers with doctorate degrees in relevant majors and with overseas study and work experience.

4. 22 credits of English courses must be taken. Among them, English Reading and Writing and English Listening and Speaking are taught according to the highest requirements of the University. Overseas teaching materials, syllabus and teaching plans are introduced for English for Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.Academic Thesis Writing is taught by NUOS teachers.

5. The graduation thesis is jointly directed by tutors from JOU and NUOS.

6. The experts from both sides shall form a joint defense committee, and the graduation defense shall be in English or bilingual; if the NUOS experts are not present, network video mode can be used for remote defense.

V. School system and training model

The standard school system of this project is 4 years. NUOS and JOU jointly formulate training programs and organize teaching. All lectures and related teaching activities are conducted in JOU.
